Occasionally I learn to write science and art papers (2024-2026)

Ulcin, Montenegro

My ad-hoc education continues.

Here is what I learn by writing and talking within academic contexts.

1. Last year (2025) together with Serbian NGO Zeleno Doba (they do ERASMUS+ youth work) we outlined and presented a youthwork framework for the Western Balkans to allow new regenerative  gamechangers, Kaos pilots (whatever you call them) appearing and getting into meaningful influence. That's based on my practical experience and research in Russia and Europe and regional expertise of Zeleno Doba. I presented it at ERASMUS+ 1FUTURE project within their symposium in the University in Podgorica, then university published that as an article. So for that we are also looking for partners to make it happen.

Sergey Dmitriev & Eva Vitorović - 'The GREEN Program, Kaos Pilots, Game|Changers, and Zeleno Doba cases for bridging industries, academia, and communities to grow regenerative leaders for the Western Balkan' in 1FUTURE International Symposium proceedings University of Podgorica 2025 (p. 521-530). (the article, the full book of proceedings).

2. My previous article published in a book by the University of Arts Belgrade was a summary of all that know-how that together with a team and students we developed for 4 years of our professional orientation and immersion youthwork in high-tech industries in Russia (ad-hoc research and education program Game|Changers).

Ad-Hoc Education&Research Approach for ‘Gardening’ Learning Ecosystems’ in Subaltern Knowledge in Cultural Practices: Fostering Fairness, Cooperation and Care. Ed. by Milena Dragicevic Sesic, Sarah Cordonnier. University of Arts in Belgrade 2024 (p. 265-286).
more details here, article in pdf, whole book

I continue to share approaches described above as my talk 'Community-based Education: Cases from the Global Ecovillage Network and High Tech Industry' just accepted to the Fifth International Conference “Why Still Education?” EDUCATION COMMUNITY RESISTANCE Belgrade, October 7–9, 2026

3. Now my interest lies on the intersection of relations between human rights and non human rights (from animals to forests and rivers) and reintegration of youth work into holistic approaches where development programs are focused on all generations inclusion into symbiotic interdependency, sense making, and action.

We had some joined experience with Andrew Paterson (in 2024 and 2025 in Serbia, after collaborating for the Education Engineering Unconference in Helsinki in 2013). He and my Forest University friends were involved in Rewilding Cultures project, so we wrote this article:

Sergey Dmitriev & Andrew Gryf Paterson - 'Slow travel, symbiocenic families, and rewilding culture gatherings towards glocal kinship' (2026) in Dalila Honorato, Iakovos Panagopoulos, Tina Dolinšek, Uroš Veber (eds.), Feral Labs Node Book #3, Ljubljana: Zavod Projekt Atol. p.142-155.
The fool book is here, our article only, Andrew's Facebook post.

4. In the more broad context my most significant news is that thanks to my workshop on cooperation between ecovillages and universities that I've organized in August 2025 on the GEN Gathering in Hungary I've been invited to the steering group of the International Ecovillage Research Institute (IERI - headquarters are in Ireland and Australia) and with this scope my main courage is to lead integrative summer camps and schools between ecovillage youth and PhD students who are in social/humanity and environmental studies.

Thanks to IERI in June 2026 I participated in a 3-hour online session organized by Alessandro Pelizzon School of Law and Society, University of the Sunshine Coast Towards Ecosophical Neighbourhoods - Digital Agora that was before the main offline symposium. For that event I've prepared an article 'Beyond ‘Intentional Community’: Family Substellations, Post-Shamanic Balancer’s Role, and Intentional Societies'.

5. While my submission to the International Communal Studies Association (ICSA) conference (Lebensgarten, Germany, 9th-11th July, 2026) has been accepted due to visa issues I can't go there so now together with Zachary Reyna from Constructor University (that is in Bremen and quite close to the ecovillage that hosts the conference) we are cooperating for a work-around. Originally, I've applied with the roundtable: The Missed Role in Contemporary Communities: From Shamans and Priests to Balancers and Evolution Guides.

6. I've also applied to the 6th International Conference Social and Solidarity Economy and the Commons with this year's topic "Hacking Our Common Future: Transnational cooperation between community-led initiatives in a fragmented world" (November 4-6, Lisbon). My submission is on Balancers and Social Rewilding.
